More than 200 attendance team members representing 78 schools picked up tools and techniques that they can use to implement the requirements of the Attendance for Success Law.

Participants at the 2020 Every Day Matters Attendance Follow up Conference are from Albuquerque Public Schools, Bernalillo Public Schools, Belen Consolidated Schools, and Los Lunas Schools.

Attendance for Success mandates that the state shift its approach to school attendance from a focus on truancy and punishment to a more supportive approach that uses chronic absenteeism as the key metric for tracking student attendance.

Participants reviewed examples of student success plans, talked about the importance of identifying the root cause for these absences and looked at examples of interventions.

Albuquerque Public Schools has created a new procedural directive that was shared by Kris Meurer and Daphne Strader.

Mission: Graduate, UWCNM’s education initiative has been holding attendance conferences for educators since 2015.

The Attendance Follow-Up Conference was sponsored in part by APS
